Celebrating a Major Milestone: Launching Kidd Aitken Asia

November 12, 2025

We’re excited to mark a major milestone in Kidd Aitken’s journey with the launch of Kidd Aitken Asia, a dedicated Asia-Pacific office led by Dennis Li, former Chambers Head of Greater China. With a decade of experience helping law firms across the world navigate the legal directory landscape, we’re excited for what this new chapter offers.

To honour the occasion, Directors Daniel Kidd and Jacob Aitken joined Dennis Li, Kidd Aitken  Asia Managing Director, to talk about what this means for our clients, how we’re supporting firms on the ground, and what’s next for legal rankings in the region.

What does this new office represent for KA and for law firms across the region?

"The launch of Kidd Aitken Asia is a natural evolution of the work we’ve been doing across the region for years. It reflects our commitment to being closer to our clients both geographically and strategically. By establishing a dedicated presence in Asia, we’re better positioned to support firms in real time, understand local nuances, and deliver even more tailored, impactful advice. It’s about deepening relationships and delivering results that matter."

What are some of the unique challenges Asian firms face with legal directories and how is Kidd Aitken Asia positioned to help?

"Many law firms in Asia are doing exceptional work, but that doesn’t always translate into strong directory rankings, global recognition and visibility. There’s often a gap between the quality of legal service and how that’s communicated to researchers. Language, cultural, mindset differences, and internal bandwidth can all be barriers. Kidd Aitken Asia bridges that gap. We help firms tell their story in a way that resonates with directories strategically, clearly, and persuasively - while taking the pressure off internal teams."

"Many law firms in Asia are doing exceptional work, but that doesn’t always translate into strong directory rankings, global recognition and visibility.

How does your team in Asia leverage their legal directory experience to deliver results?

"Our team includes former research directors, managers and researchers from Chambers, Legal 500, and IFLR1000, so we understand exactly how rankings are determined. We know what researchers look for, how they assess submissions, and how to position a firm’s strengths effectively. That insight allows us to craft submissions that are not only accurate but compelling; highlighting the right matters, the right people, and the right messages to stand out in a competitive field."

Can you tell us more about how Kidd Aitken Asia supports firms with referee management?

"Referee coordination is one of the most overlooked yet critical parts of the process. We have a distinct advantage in this, as we are the only one to have a dedicated team to manage this from start to finish; tracking deadlines, preparing referees, and following up to ensure feedback is submitted. This takes a huge burden off firms and dramatically improves the chances of strong, timely feedback. It’s a real differentiator for us and a major value-add for our clients."

What’s your vision for Kidd Aitken Asia moving forward?

"Our vision is to become the go-to strategic partner for law firms across Asia when it comes to legal directories, legal marketing and beyond. We’re already helping firms align their submissions with broader marketing and business development goals, and we see that role expanding. Whether it’s awards, rankings, or reputation-building, we want to be the team firms turn to when they want to raise their profile globally and grow their practice."

What’s one key lesson you’ve learned that every firm should keep in mind when approaching legal directories?

"The biggest lesson is that rankings are not just about what you’ve done—they’re about how well you communicate it. Even the best legal work can go unrecognized if it’s not presented clearly and strategically. Firms that treat submissions as a marketing opportunity—not just a compliance task—tend to see the strongest results. That’s where we come in: helping firms tell their story in a way that gets noticed."

Thank you to Dennis for sharing his insights. It’s exciting to discuss how Kidd Aitken Asia can make a real impact, help firms across the region elevate their rankings and reputation with less internal strain and benefit from our more strategic approach.
