The Kidd Aitken team recently underwent a job title change. Previously called Legal Directory Specialists, our team is now known as Legal Directory Consultants. Proposed by our Head of Training, Matthew Cripsey, this is more than an arbitrary name change, we made this switch for a number of reasons. Legal Directory Consultants better reflects the roles and responsibilities of our team as they support you to improve your legal directory rankings, optimise your submissions process, and solidify your reputation as a leading law firm and, to answer the question posed in Romeo and Juliet, ‘What’s in a name?’
‘Specialist’, from the Latin specialist (individual, particular), suggests high skill in one specific field of expertise. While our team are indeed legal directory experts, the specificity of ‘specialist’ implies they do not possess as much broad knowledge across multiple topics. Preferring to drill down into one particular branch of a subject. Consultants, however, have a broader knowledge base. The term combines not just the specialist knowledge that our team have garnered, but also highlights the way in which we work with your Firm and Partners. Our consultants are former editors and researchers in prestigious legal directories, including The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners. They don’t simply give advice on how to succeed with your legal directory submissions: they embed themselves in the fabric of your organisation. Delving into your work highlights for legal directory submissions and learning as much as possible about what makes your practice a success. While legal marketing is our speciality, we look beyond its parameters to its practical application and how we can best amplify the successes of your team.
The term ‘consultant’ was first used in the 17th Century, as ‘person who consults an oracle’. While we unfortunately do not have access to an oracle in the traditional sense, our oracle, perhaps, is our expertise. We draw on years of involvement in the legal industry, as well as experience as editors, researchers and writers in Chambers and Partners and The Legal 500.While we work closely with your Partners and wider stakeholders to work on your legal directory submissions, our support doesn’t stop after the submission has been finalised. We are the only legal directory consultancy with a team of coordinators dedicated to the post-submission process. Helping you to select referee lists, managing timelines and keeping in contact to ensure high response rates.
Distance and language are not issues for us, either. We are a remote-working team with experts across the continents: if you are looking for assistance with legal directory submissions from around the world, we can help. Our Legal Directory Consultants have wide-ranging language skills, including Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, German, Japanese and many more. Our consultants integrate themselves into your firm from the very beginning. We are external experts with an insider’s vision and values. We know that when client work becomes urgent, legal directory submissions can often fall – or off – the priority list. Meaning that ranking chances can suffer as a consequence. Our consultantscan help to relieve the burden from internal Business Development and Marketing teams, through project management, guidance and more, allowing your team to spend more time on client work and other pressing projects.
Whether you choose to have us as supporting advisers or outsource the process to us entirely, your submissions are in safe hands. We pride ourselves on our ability to communicate your success and expertise leaving you to do the things you’re best at.
